Bat Mitzvah The Eleanor Downtown Portland
Audrey’s Bat Mitzvah celebration was held on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at The Eleanor Downtown Portland, Oregon.
The synagogue was only three blocks away and most guests walked to the venue following the service. Upon arrival, background music was playing from a variety of artists including Adele, Glass Animals and Elton John.
Audrey chose not to have any games, so it was just one big dance party that launched with everyone participating for “Hava Nagila” and the traditional chair raising.
Many adults were dancing early in the evening, but at some point the kids took over and never stopped as they enjoyed mostly recent hit songs along with Audrey’s requests for Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Ke$ha, Taylor Swift and more.

June Zenith Vineyard Wedding Salem Oregon
Hanna and Josh’s wedding and reception was held at Zenith Vineyard in Salem, Oregon on Saturday, June 11, 2022.
The wettest spring on record had more rain in the forecast, but we caught a break for the ceremony outside with only a few light drops off and on. It turned out to be a nice day with an occasional breeze that required a cover for the lapel microphone worn by the officiant. This cover looks like a small critter, but it completely blocked any noise from the wind, so it was welcome.

My main sound system was setup inside and background music for cocktails and dinner featured a variety of recent and classic hits that included artists Adele, Al Green, Michael Buble and Motown favorites.

The dance floor opened just after 7pm with the mid-June daylight still flooding in for most of the evening, but we had a great turnout from the start.
I played a variety of hit songs from all eras: disco and classic rock, 80’s, 90’s, recent Top 40 and Country… Everything from “Uptown Funk” and “Footloose” to “Twist and Shout” and “Cupid Shuffle”.

Corporate Karaoke Party Migration Brewing Portland
PRO DJs had the opportunity to DJ the No Bad Conversations with Klaus and Aircall corporate karaoke party held at Migration Brewing in Portland, Oregon on Monday, June 6, 2022.
There were 25 karaoke performances during the two hour event with most guests selecting 80’s and 90’s hits including Madonna’s “Like A Prayer”, Shania Twain’s “Man! I Feel Like A Woman”, TLC’s “No Scrubs” and one singer who sounded just like Gwen Stefani when performing No Doubt’s “Just A Girl”.
The night ended with nearly everyone in attendance joining Dee for Backstreet Boy’s “I Want It That Way.”

Portland Bar Mitzvah Columbia Edgewater Country Club
Asher was ready to have a good time at his Portland Bar Mitzvah Columbia Edgewater Country Club held on Saturday, June 4, 2022 with most of his friends having arrived before the 6pm start time. This event was originally scheduled for October 2021, but delayed because of Covid.
There were many things planned including gaming tables (blackjack and poker), as well as games with the DJ (me) before dinner. Asher’s favorite sports are basketball and football, perfect for the ice breaker basketball vs. football pass. The kids had a great time with that and the scavenger that followed, as well Blazers vs. Eagles (a variation of the soda drink game) and a limbo that ended right before everyone gathered for Havdalah and several speeches by the family.
After dinner, Asher’s dad Scott sung and played guitar on two original songs he had written, including one called “Runnin’ from Covid-19”. Guests enjoyed singing along and right after he was finished, Scott asked me to play the electric version of the song recorded in a studio. That led nicely into me inviting everyone out for dancing to “The Hora” and chair raising.
From there, adults and kids danced for almost two hours to fun hit songs like I Gotta Feeling” and “Shut Up and Dance”, along with family favorites “September” by Earth, Wind and Fire, “Super Freak” by Rick James and more.
