CedarVale Events Wedding Hubbard Oregon
Ashley and Brittany’s wedding and reception was held at CedarVale Events, a former family farm in Hubbard, Oregon on Friday, August 19, 2022.
The wedding was scheduled to begin at 3:30pm, but the entire wedding party was stuck in traffic on I-5, leading to a one hour delay. Everyone there took it in stride though and it was a perfect day to enjoy the space. Background music was a mix of Jazz covers of popular songs.
I setup a second sound system for the ceremony which took place under the towering cedars. This peaceful spot is very inviting and provided a perfect amount of shade for everyone.

While the brides had their photos taken, guests returned to the open clearing area for drinks and appetizers, along with lawn games including cornhole. The buffet opened for dinner around 6:30pm.

This group of less than 50 guests were not shy when the dance floor opened with a slow song and all the uptempo selections that followed, from ABBA and Daft Punk to Neil Diamond and Justin Timberlake, plus the brides requests for Paramore, Tegan and Sara, Cascada and more.

The Aerie at Eagle Landing Wedding Reception
Heba and Anan celebrated their wedding reception with friends and family at The Aerie at Eagle Landing in Happy Valley, Oregon on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 outside in The Bellevue Garden and partially inside The Grand Ballroom. The ceremony was held a few days earlier at a separate location.
Upon their arrival, I introduced the couple as they were coming up the stairs. The bride asked me to first play Coolio’s “Gangsta’s Paradise” and after the first line “As I walk through the valley of the shadow of death”, say “just kidding” and quickly switch to “Drej Ya Ghezaleh” by Omar Alabdallat. All of their guests then joined them on the dance floor.
Dinner followed and background music was a mix of soft/medium tempo instrumentals from Piano de Bossa.

A hot day turned into a cooler night, but the dance floor was heated from the start with nearly everyone joining in for opening song “Hatgawez” by Saad El Soghayar. Other popular Arabic and English selections such as “Allah Aleik Ya Sidi” and “This Is How We Do It” were also well-received.

Barn Kestrel Wedding West Linn Oregon
It was an absolutely perfect summer day for Shaina and Chris’ Barn Kestrel wedding on Saturday, August 13, 2022 in West Linn, Oregon.
The ceremony was held just outside the Queen Anne Victorian home under the tall tree that provided shade for most everyone. I setup a second sound system to provide music and microphones for the officiant and the bride and groom’s custom vows, as well as music during dinner at this same area of the property.

Following the ceremony, guests walked to the historic barn for cocktails and appetizers. I setup my main sound system here to also be used for dancing later that evening. Background music for the cocktail hour featured a variety of artists, including OneRepublic, Adele and Marvin Gaye.
Around 6pm, everyone returned to the front yard with scenic rural view for dinner and the toast that followed. The bride selected the background music during this time and provided me a playlist of popular selections re-imagined by Vitamin String Quartet .

Following the toast, guests were asked to return to the barn for dancing and after the first dance, it was a wild one. The dance floor was packed right out of the gate and the energy was amazing. Older songs, recent songs, they loved it all.
I played the bride and groom’s current favorite songs back-to-back, A$AP Ferg “New Level” and Cherub’s “Doses & Mimosas”. The latter really got a reaction from the groom as his shirt eventually came off 🙂

Horning’s Hideout Wedding North Plains Oregon
Haley and Tilon held their Horning’s Hideout wedding in North Plains, Oregon on Friday, August 12, 2022 on a comfortable summer day that topped out at 79 degrees.
The ceremony took place along the creekside where I setup a second small sound system to provide music and microphones for the officiant and the bride and groom’s custom vows.

Following the ceremony, guests walked up the hill to the reception area. Background music was provided by the bride as a Spotify playlist and featured electronic music selections from Odesza, Kaskade, Disclosure and other artists.
Horning’s Hideout Wedding Reception Highlights:
- Cake Cutting: Justin Bieber – Yummy
- First Dance: Cat Power – Sea of Love
- Bouquet Toss: ABBA – Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)
The dance floor filled quickly for the opening slow dance and the newlywed’s requests for “Dancing Queen” and “Love Shack” helped the nearly 100 guests remain a load of energy for the next few hours.
Recent uptempo dance songs from Rihanna and Dua Lipa were well-received and with a full-moon, the bride and groom’s request for “Dancing In The Moonlight” was nice finish for the dance floor at 10pm before the volume had to be reduced (venue rules).

August Portland Yacht Club Wedding
Sofie and Justin’s Portland Yacht Club wedding took place on Thursday, August 11, 2022 on a delightful summer day. With a high temperature of only 79 degrees, the ceremony and reception were held outside across most of the patio overlooking the marina on the Columbia River.

The reception began immediately following the ceremony. Background music was a mix of classics from the big band era and crooners such as Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole and Billie Holliday.
After introducing the newlyweds when they returned for the reception, they walked right to the dance floor with their guests in tow to dance “The Hora” and subsequent chair raising.
Portland Yacht Club Wedding Reception Highlights:

With approximately 60 guests in attendance, the dance floor ebbed and flowed much of the evening, but they appeared to have a good time dancing to old favorites as well as recent selections.
