Private Party
A Special Night For Fathers & Daughters
As a father with an 8 year-old daughter, I can’t help by get a little emotional when I hear certain songs. ‘My Little Girl’ from Tim McGraw has that effect on me nearly everytime, especially when I get to perform at a father/daughter dance.
It was a great turnout Friday night at Carus Elementary School in Oregon City. Dads and daughters shared many dances to music from all eras… everything from Michael Jackson to Katy Perry. It was fun watching the dads try to move to the Cha Cha Slide and the daughters make their dad’s day with a slow dance.
Thank you Jessica for choosing PRO DJs. I had a great time and look forward to coming back next year. -Rich

Cadets Honored, Celebrate At JROTC Banquet
The ballroom at the Monarch Hotel in Clackamas was nearly full as Oregon City High School’s Army JROTC program honored its outstanding cadets Saturday night. This formal event featured dinner, a guest speaker and a skit put on by a few of the cadets. After crowning this year’s G.I. Joe and G.I. Jane, they led the first dance of the night to Uncle Kracker’s ‘Smile’ before others joined in.
While on their best behavior, this group of students was also ready to party on the dance floor and a mix of current hits with a few classics thrown in, kept a lively pace the entire night. It seemed there were beach balls everywhere and two impromptu limbos broke out.
I have to double check, but I believe this event is the longest running on the PRO DJs calendar as we have performed this annually going back to 1998. One constant with these high school kids has been their love for the Hokey Pokey. They request it every year and absolutely love it. Other group dances that went over very well included ‘Cha Cha Slide’, ‘Macarena’, ‘Hoedown Throwdown’ and ‘Cupid Shuffle’.
Everyone seemed to have a great time and we appreciate the opportunity to perform again at this special banquet. Thank you Major Thomas and Cadet Tamara Woodward. -Rich

Happy New Year From 7,000 Feet
As I approach my 25th year as a mobile DJ, I have had the opportunity to perform at some amazing events, including many New Year’s Eve parties. This year took the cake though as I played not just New Year’s Eve, but New Year’s Night as well in the historic Silcox Hut located 1,000 feet above Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood.
My client reserved the hut four years ago and with an intimate gathering of about 40 people, guests were treated to some incredble food, prizes and entertainment. My wife was able to join me this weekend and my client was generous in providing us accommodations in the lodge both nights.
For New Year’s Eve, everyone was excited and we got off to a great start on the dance floor. Although, one thing I learned about dancing at 7,000 feet, is the high altitude will tire you out a little quicker than normal, so after a good run of 4-5 fast dance songs in a set, a break was needed. With mostly couples in attendance, the breaks came in the form of slow dances and they were welcome.
As the clock turned to 2011, I led a countdown to the New Year and everyone found someone to kiss while ‘Auld Lang Syne’ played in the background. We then headed outside to view the fireworks show above the lodge below. We could also see the fireworks at Ski Bowl and some in the Portland area.
Most of the guests slept in the hut, while others were taken back to the lodge in a snowcat. Some went skiing New Year’s Day or slept in… either way, we needed to rest up as the fun continued the next night with a pajama and karaoke party. Everyone had a great time singing or being entertained. We then wrapped the night with more dancing.
This is an event most of us will never forget and I felt fortunate to be a part of it. Thank you Lisa and Rick for the great memories. Happy New Year!
Hi Rich, Thanks for the great job of providing music at our company party. Everyone had a good time. I hope you and Jill enjoyed the weekend. I will keep you in mind for our next company event. Thanks again. -Lisa L.

Area Newcomers Arrive For The Party
Even in a down economy and some of the highest unemployment in the country, a lot of people are still moving to the Portland-Vancouver area and that was evident Friday night at the Clark County Newcomers Club holiday party held at Club Green Meadows in Vancouver.
Ages ranged from 60 to 80 years and this was a great opportunity to meet new people and enjoy a fun night out. Guests mingled to background music from Frank Sinatra, the Beatles, Ella Fitzgerald and more, plus a few holiday favorites.
I heard this group gets together often , so they are familiar with each other. This made for great chemistry and the dance floor was rockin’ from the opening number. Oldies and Motown were most popular. Disco was either a huge crowd pleaser or a dud, but they were good sports and we had fun with it. The dance floor itself could have been a little bigger and some songs, like Bob Seger’s ‘Old Time Rock and Roll’ were so popular, some guests had to dance 20 feet away 🙂
Thank you Eileen for having me perform at your event… I had a good time. Happy Holidays. -Rich
