It was another big time holiday party for a Vancouver Garden Supply company on Saturday, December 17, 2011 and for the sixth straight year, they chose PRO DJs for their annual event that included gambling, tons of prizes and of course, dancing.
 
The Grand Ballroom at the Jantzen Beach Red Lion Hotel in Portland, Oregon features a large dining area with dance floor, plus a sizable foyer, that provided the perfect spot to place gaming tables that were open from the very beginning as guests arrived for the party around 6pm.
 
For cocktails and dinner, I played a mix of holiday favorites as requested by the client and the gaming tables remained open until 8:30pm. The employees of this company really look forward to what comes next each year… a large number of great prizes are given away, including tools, electronics, gift cards, cash and a big screen television.
 
It normally takes almost two hours to draw all the winners, but most people don’t seem to mind and they are usually excited to start dancing when it’s over. I enjoy spinning for this group and they have a lot of fun on the dance floor. I played everything from Michael Jackson and Van Morrison to Black Eyed Peas and Usher. Like all company parties this year, current music has been especially popular, led by big hits ‘Moves Like Jagger’, ‘Dynamite’ and ‘Party Rock Anthem’.

One of the most amazing ballrooms in the Pacfic Northwest is the Heritage Ballroom, located on the fourth floor of the Governor Hotel in Downtown Portland, Oregon. Surrounded by giant white columns, the Heritage has been described as how a ballroom should look… classy and inviting.
 
Red accent lights on each column, along with white holiday lights, were a nice touch for this company party I had the opportunity to perform at on Friday, December 16, 2011. About 200 guests were expected and they arrived to a variety of music that include some holiday favorites. A similar mix played during dinner, but I went with a slower tempo.
 
There were quite a few wrapped presents on the stage and it seemed as if nearly everyone in attendance received a gift. This put them in a good mood, but they were a little slow to warm up to the dance floor until about four songs in… ‘Stayin’ Alive’ got them going and after a few more oldies, they really picked it up to the latest hit music.

‘Tis the season for corporate holiday functions. PRO DJs performed at three parties on Saturday, December 3, 2011. Two of them were for companies who have used us every year for the last four and six years respectively.
 
Rhett was the DJ at the Lifeport holiday party held at the Hilton in Vancouver, Washington. This was the fourth straight year they have chosen PRO DJs and for this year’s party, the first two hours featured a casino for the employees. After collecting their winnings, they were fired up for the dance floor. Thank you Luminate Photography for sharing some photos from this event (see below).
 
Steve was at the Governor Hotel for the OHSU Cardiovascular Division Holiday Party held in the Grand Ballroom on the 3rd Floor. This group has hired PRO DJs for their big event every year since 2005 and we appreciate their confidence in our service. Steve reported that employees were in an especially good mood this year and they partied to a variety of hit music that included a heavy dose of current favorites.
 
Rich was DJ/KJ at the Cafe Yumm employee party held at their downtown location on 6th Avenue. All the windows were covered with paper to hide the festivies inside from those passing by on the sidewalk outside. It was a good thing as this group let loose and had a wild time dancing and singing karaoke. The mostly younger crowd loved dancing to the current hits from Usher, Maroon 5, LMFAO and others, but they mostly chose to sing the classics, including ‘Billie Jean’ and Salt-N-Pepa’s ‘Push It’.

PRO DJs first corporate holiday party of 2011 happened Friday night, December 2nd in the Queen Marie Room at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Downtown Portland, Oregon.
 
147 guests RSVP’d for this event, but with the Oregon Ducks football team playing in the Pac-12 Championship game on national TV, many took their time getting there. Still, it was a good turnout early as guests arrived to a variety of music that included holiday favorites, while they enjoyed drinks and heavy appetizers.
 
About 90 minutes in, several awards were presented and prizes given away before I opened the dance floor. With the bar in the adjoining room, participation at the start was mixed, but after the final round of prizes were given away, the energy picked up as I spun Maroon 5, Usher and other current hits that packed the floor.
