Hoppin’ Dance Floor At Convention Closing Party
The Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing is a series of conferences taking place in various cities around the country. I was honored to be chosen as DJ/Emcee for Sponsor Night, a networking event to celebrate the conclusion of this event.
With over 2,600 attendees (all women), this party got going in a hurry. A marching band led everyone to the ballroom and when the doors opened, I began playing ‘I Gotta Feeling’ from the Black Eyed Peas.
The playlist was a mix of current popular music with a few fun classics. The giant dance floor was no match for this group as the overflow extended out onto the carpet on all sides. At one point, it appeared nearly every attendee was dancing.
The energy was amazing from this group and I appreciated the opportunity to lead the fun.

Portland DJ Helps Employees Celebrate Successful Year
With a chance to win some exceptional door prizes, including iPads and flat screen televisions, there was an obvious excitement in the air for local employees of CSL Plasma on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at the Marriott Hotel Downtown Waterfront in Portland, Oregon.
Not everyone could win something, but like watching a game show, those who didn’t win a prize were happy for their co-workers who did and it showed later as most guests were fired up for the dance floor.
The mostly younger group got right to it, getting down to a run of the latest hit music and showing their support for the boss (who requested the ‘Macarena’) by packing the floor with her before she left the party.
Thank you for choosing PRO DJs for your big event.

Marathon Event For Mobile DJ At Midweek Tradeshow
PRO DJs provided music and announcements at the WESCO Open House held in Portland, Oregon on Wednesday, September 28, 2011. This event was a supplier showcase that featured games (virtual golf and fly fishing), food and drinks from local brewers, and special guest appearances by Kevin Goldwaite and Brian Umony from the Portland Timbers with Timber Joey (the mascot) and Wesley Matthews from the Portland Trail Blazers. Members of the Blazer Dancers also made appearances throughout the day and there was a Live radio broadcast from Dave Smith of 750 AM ‘The Game.’
I started the music at 11am and ended at 7pm, playing a variety of hit music from all genres. The day ended with some great prize giveaways, including two iPad 2 devices, refrigerators and autographed jerseys, balls and hats from the Blazers and Timbers. I also got to meet Wesley Matthews from the Blazers. While meeting fans, he requested a few songs. We had a little fun going from Michael Jackson to ‘Party Rock Anthem’. He also requested ‘Teach Me How To Dougie’ – I offered a trade… picture and an autograph for that one 🙂
Mobile DJ Ascends Mountain For Bachelor Bash
My second event in less than a year halfway up an Oregon mountain in the Cascades took place on Saturday, September 10, 2011. The USTA Team Cup Challenge 20th Anniversary Dinner/Dance was originally scheduled for the mall in Sunriver, but moved at the last minute because of a scheduling conflict to Pine Marten Lodge on Mt. Bachelor. With the temperature in Bend at 92 degrees, it was refreshing being up that high and the view was spectacular.
This past New Year’s Eve, I performed in Silcox Hut located above Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood. Guests had a great time then, but the elevation left everyone more winded than normal from dancing. I was concerned this may happen with this event as well, but that wasn’t the case. In fact, the dance floor exploded almost immediately and never really let up. It was a wild night to say the least as I spun a variety of songs that included today’s hit music (i.e., Usher, Pink) and the classics (i.e, Michael Jackson, Def Leppard).
My equipment was brought up to the lodge on the ski chairlift. After the party, it was a dark ride back down the mountain, but with a full moon lighting up the Three Sisters mountains nearby and the quiet night air, the trip was quite an amazing experience.
Thank you Don with Team Cup Challenge and Blair with USTA in Beaverton for the opportunity.

Post Holiday Corporate Holiday Party
Most company parties take place in December, but we have a few clients who prefer to avoid the holiday hustle and hold their event in January.
I have had the opportunity to perform at this party for many years and each year features a different theme. This time it was 80’s night at the Red Lion Hotel on the River Jantzen Beach in Portland and many guests nailed the look… dressed like Madonna, Michael Jackson, and Don Johnson from Miami Vice.
The were a lot of great prizes, including laptops, flat screen televisions and iPads before the casino gaming tables were opened. We kept the 80’s music going during this time with favorites from Billy Idol, Prince, Depeche Mode and more. This particular group absolutely loves to gamble, but a few found their way to the dance floor as the night wore on and we managed to sneak in a few 90’s and current selections before it was all over.
Thank you Angie for continuing to use PRO DJs for this annual event. -Rich
