Bat Mitzvah
A Tale Of Two Mitzvahs
PRO DJs performed at David’s Bar Mitzvah and Shayna’s Bat Mitzvah Saturday night.
Steve was the DJ at David’s party, held at Club Sport in Tigard. After some tough competition from a close game in the NCAA Basketball tournament airing on the big screen television right outside where the dancing was to take place, Steve finally drew a crowd and proceeded to rock the conference room with fun games and lots of current hit music for the kids. For the final hour of this event, the entire club was opened to the kids and they scattered almost immediately to enjoy rock climbing, basketball and other activities. This allowed the adults to own the dance floor and Steve accommodated them with a variety of great dance music from all eras.
Rich was the DJ at Shayna’s Bat Mitzvah held at Aquariva Italian Kitchen in Portland. This event was originally planned to involve games and dancing similar to David’s Bar Mitzvah, but about 30 days before the event, the family changed their mind and decided they would prefer a low-key affair. I played a variety of background music for the adult guests, who appeared to enjoy the evening visiting with each other while the kids gathered in a small side room they had all to themselves. This room featured an Xbox game system and Wii with Rock Band on a big screen, plus lots of candy 🙂 While this event was more laid back than most similar parties, many guests couldn’t resist the urge to get their groove on and we had a nice run on a makeshift dancefloor to finish the evening with a fun mix of music that included the ‘Cha Cha Slide’, Cee Lo Green’s ‘Forget You’ and Shayna’s favorite, Shania Twain ‘Man! I Feel Like A Woman’.
Mazel Tov to David and Shayna. Thank you for choosing PRO DJs. -Rich
Emma’s Bat Mitzvah
It has been a long time since Steve and I performed an event together (5 years) and we had a great time at Emma’s Bat Mitzvah Saturday. The kids brought a lot of energy to this midday celebration, anxious to get moving to the latest hit music.
Steve also entertained them with a swing dance and limbo contest before throwing it to me for karaoke. Emma loves to sing, but her mother wanted it to be a surprise, so we waited until just before we started to set-up the lyrics monitor.
Once they knew what was happening, everyone got excited. They were a little shy during the first few songs, but got over it quickly and delivered some solid performances, especially on Bruno Mars’ ‘Just the Way You Are’, Ke$ha’s ‘We R Who We R’ and two versions of Justin Bieber’s ‘Baby’.
After announcing the winners and handing out gift cards as prizes, Steve had the kids and some of the adults back on the dance floor with Cee Lo Green’s current hot hit ‘Forget You’, plus a few other fun dance songs to complete a great day.
Mazel Tov and thank you Dorothy for choosing PRO DJs. -Rich
“Steve and Rich were both at my daughter’s Bat Mitzvah managing the music and karaoke. They have the perfect personalities to get people moving and keep them smiling! They played great background music during lunch, then the kids had a blast with karaoke and dance competions. I will use them again, and I recommend them 100%.” -Dorothy Root

Eliana’s Bat Mitzvah
What a night for Eliana and her friends. This party was all for them at the Irvington Club in Portland and they danced the night away to their favorite top 40 hit songs, including ‘Dynamite’, ‘Like A G6’, ‘DJ’s Got Us Falling In Love’ and more. This party was so hot, even Justin Bieber made an appearance… okay, it was a lifesize cardboard cutout of J.B., but he seemed to enjoy it.
We played a few other games, including ‘Jukebox Eliminator’, the football hike and pass race, a swing dance contest and the Limbo to Ludacris’ ‘How Low’. The Snowball dance was also especially popular… one snowball featured the kids dancing with a look-a-like and another had Justin Bieber dancing with the girls… the real boys in attendance didn’t seem to mind 🙂
Mazel Tov and thank you dad David and grandmother Alice for choosing PRO DJs. -Rich
Dear Rich: I was so very pleased to meet you last night and appreciate your thank you to me then – and now. Eliana’s Grandpa and I arrived at 6:30 and left about 9:15 during which time it sounded and felt to us as if the party was a great success. (Eighty-five year old) Grandpa danced more than I, but I watched the kids from the sidelines, as you know, and they seemed like content and happy, busy 13-year olds! -Alice M.

Sydney’s Bat Mitzvah
The party on Saturday with Sydney and her family and friends at the World Forestry Center’s Cheatham Hall was amazing. I loved it when they all came out to the dance floor for the ‘Hora’… everyone circled the family in celebration and even though Sydney did not want to go up in the chair, she eventually relented and the smiles were priceless.
I was glad to be their DJ and hope they had a lot of fun. Mazel Tov and thank you Randi for choosing PRO DJs. -Steve

Zoe’s Bat Mitzvah
Zoe’s Bat Mitzvah was held at the World Trade Center in downtown Portland on Oct. 30th. Ha ha – can you say the girls flipped that place upside down? The energy in the room was hot. The food fantastic and the night smoking with great music. I had a great time and the family was wonderful. Thank you!
“Steve made the evening spectacular. He is extremely skilled with kids this age.” -Holly Duncan
