Rich Ellis
Milwaukie OR Wedding DJ At Gray Gables Estate
Milwaukie OR Wedding DJ Rich Ellis performed at Gabrielle (Gabe) and Kevin’s wedding and reception on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Gray Gables Estate in Milwaukie, Oregon.
The warmest and possibly driest summer on record in the Pacific Northwest heated up a little more on the first day of Labor Day weekend as the high temperature hit 97. However, nearly the entire venue was shaded by many trees surrounding the property to provide comfort for the 100 or so guests.
Milwaukie OR Wedding DJ Ceremony Highlights:
- Weding Processional Entrance: John Legend & Lindsey Stirling – All of Me
- Bride Entrance: The Piano Guys – A Thousand Years
- Bride/Groom Exit: The Lumineers – Ho Hey
As The Garden area was turned for dinner and dancing, guests visited near the bar, the covered deck outside The Ballroom or inside the ballroom or Manor House Lawn. For cocktails and dinner, the newlyweds requested a variety of alternative songs that included The Lumineers, Ingrid Michaelson, The Head and the Heart and more.
Milwaukie OR Wedding DJ Reception Highlights:
- Grand Entrance: Beyonce – Crazy In Love
- Cake Cutting: Cake – Love You Madly
- First Dance: Elvis Presley – Can’t Help Falling In Love
- Bouquet Toss: David Guetta f/Flo Rida & Nicki Minaj – Where Them Girls At
- Garter Toss: Kenny Loggins – Danger Zone
- Last Dance: Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros – Home
Gabe and Kevin requested that all guests join them for their first dance about halfway through their song selection. It was a good turnout that lasted a few songs, but it was not only a hot day, but uncharacteristically humid for the Portland area. As a result, what seemed like most everyone headed inside The Ballroom to take advantage of the air conditioning.
Eventually most cooled down enough to return for the party and as the sun set, the mostly younger crowd packed the floor and danced to more recent hits, including ‘Can’t Stop the Feeling’, ‘Uptown Funk’, ‘Despacito’ and more.
The groom requested that Billy Joel’s “Piano Man” be played for him and his fraternity brothers and then everyone gathered around the newlyweds for the final song before heading off to the Red Star Tavern at the Hotel Monaco in Downtown Portland for the afterparty.
Congratulations Gabe and Kevin and thank you for choosing PRO DJs.

Leslie and Rick were married on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Mt. Hood Bed & Breakfast in Parkdale, Oregon. After a hot July, it was nice to get a break as the temperature was a perfect 80 degrees for this Mt. Hood wedding scheduled to begin at 5pm.

- Communion: Westlife – You Raise Me Up & Jeremy Riddle – Sweetly Broken
- Bride/Groom Exit: Pharrell Williams – Happy
The reception began immediately in the same area as where the ceremony took place with most guests gathering near the shed to get a cool drink. For background music, I played a variety of songs that included artists James Taylor, Coblie Callait, Blake Shelton and others.

Horning’s Hideout Wedding North Plains Oregon
Lanie and Tyler held their Horning’s Hideout wedding in North Plains, Oregon on Saturday, August 5, 2017. I had the opportunity to perform at Lanie’s brother Steven’s wedding at this same location in 2015.
The only difference was the location of this event on the property as this took place in the more secluded Creekside Area. As the temperature rose to a warm 90+ degrees, all the extra trees provided some welcome shade for most of the guests.
Horning’s Hideout Wedding Ceremony Highlights:
- Wedding Party Entrance: Bruno Mars – Just the Way You Are
- Bride Entrance: Piano Guys – Can’t Help Falling in Love (Elvis)
- Bride/Groom Exit: Ray LaMontagne – You Are The Best Thing
The reception followed with tables arranged for dinner in the grass where the ceremony had just taken place.
The newlyweds were not really interested in the traditional wedding reception events, so following the toast, the dance floor was open to everyone. It was early and there was still a lot of daylight, but undercover where I was setup, my lighting added a little extra party to the very large dance floor and we had many takers from the opening song.
Then as twilight set in, the dance floor really picked up into a full rager as I played a mix of everything from Michael Jackson and Outkast to requests for Whitney Houston, The Weeknd, Nicki Minaj and more.
Congratulations Lanie and Tyler and thank you to the Father of the Bride, Darren for having me back to DJ his daughter’s wedding.

Making Memories At Majestic Mt. Hood Wedding
After a scorcher just 24 hours earlier, a nice steady breeze made for a perfect day at Deborah and Zak’s Mt. Hood wedding and reception on Sunday, July 23, 2017 at Mt. Hood B & B in Parkdale, Oregon.
It was still warm though after sitting in the sun for about an hour to witness the ceremony, so it was no surprise that all guests gathered under the nearby tent for refreshments while family members met up for photos in front of the house.
Mt. Hood Wedding Ceremony Highlights:
- Wedding Party Entrance: Steve Petrunak – Forrest Gump (Instrumental Version)
- Bride Entrance: Nick Worraf – It’s Your Love (In the style of Tim McGraw)
- Bride/Groom Exit: The Head and the Heart – Rhythm & Blues
For the reception, my main sound system was set-up earlier in the dining area located behind the house. After everyone found their seats, I introduced the entire wedding party (14 members) and then Deborah and Zak. Background music during dinner was a soft variety of favorites that included Jason Mraz, Tim McGraw and Ingrid Michaelson.
Mt. Hood Wedding Reception Highlights:
- Grand Entrance: Brett Young – In Case You Didn’t Know
- First Dance: Needtobreathe – A Place Only You Can Go
- Bride and Father Dance: Tim McGraw – My Little Girl
- Groom and Mother Dance: Frankie Valli – My Mother’s Eyes
- Bouquet Toss: Meghan Trainor – Dear Future Husband
- Garter Toss: U2’s Clayton & Mullen – Mission: Impossible
- Last Dance: Diego Luna & Gustavo Santaolalla – Te Amo y Mas
After the opening slow dance and a few classics, guests enjoyed dancing to recent hits from some of the newlyweds favorite artists, including Enrique Iglesias and Shakira, as well as the song of the summer for 2017 ‘Despacito’ from Luis Fonsi featuring Daddy Yankee.
Best wishes Deborah and Zak!
