Portland Bar Mitzvah at Tiffany Center
Portland Bar Mitzvah DJ Rich Ellis performed at Price’s Bar Mitzvah party on Saturday, March 30, 2018 at the Tiffany Center in Portland, Oregon. This event was held in the 4th floor Emerald Ballroom which holds about 300 people. 120 were originally expected, but with Oregon schools on Spring Break this week, the total was a little less.
I played a variety of background music selections as guests mingled and the kids enjoyed the photo booth with props and a game of Jenga that went at least 8 feet high.
After a slideshow and some games, most everyone came together on the dance floor for “The Hora” and chair raising.
Most guests appeared to have a great time dancing to hit songs old and new, including “Uptown Funk,” “September,” “Stayin’ Alive,” “I Gotta Feeling” and more.
Mazel Tov Price and thank you parents Tracy and Scott for choosing PRO DJs.
Isaac’s High Energy MJCC Bar Mitzvah
Isaac and his friends and family had a great time at his MJCC Bar Mitzvah celebration held at The Mittleman Jewish Community Center in Southwest Portland on Saturday, March 23, 2019.
This one began with the kids in the gym for laser tag while I played background music for the adults in the main ballroom. Isaac’s dad Joe requested a mix of standards and jazz that included Frank Sintra and Elvis Costello with Burt Bacharach. The kids made their way to the ballroom about an hour later for dinner where Isaac requested a background set of low energy EDM aka chill music 🙂
After dinner was a slide show and then I led the kids in some games, including “Name That Tune” and two rowdy versions of the Scavenger Hunt.
Around 8pm I invited everyone out for “The Hora” and chair raising. A conga line formed naturally during the next song and the dance floor was packed for big hits “I Gotta Feeling,” “Twist & Shout,” “Cha Cha Slide” and more.
The recent movie about the band Queen “Bohemian Rhapsody” is really popular with the kids and that song proved to be a great choice to finish up the night.
Mazel Tov Isaac and thank you Jill and Joe for choosing PRO DJs.

Letting Loose At Corporate Team Building Event
On Thursday night, March 14, 2019, I was at the Embassy Suites in Downtown Portland for a Kennewick-based company’s corporate team building event in the Queen Marie Ballroom. I setup early before guests arrived and a murder mystery dinner performance preceded the dancing, so I didn’t actually start the music until around 9pm. And this group was ready to go.
There were about 60 guests and including me, I think only three were men. Five songs played and already an impromtu train and limbo broke out 🙂 All the music was well-received, especially “Single Ladies,” “Love Shack,” and requests for “Cupid Shuffle.”
Non-stop recent hits, along with 80’s and 90’s hip hop throwbacks kept the energy going strong until we wrapped at 11:30pm.
Thank you Angie for choosing PRO DJs again. This group has a corporate team building event every year in different cities. I had the opportunity to perform for them one time before on the Oregon Coast in Manzanita back in 2014.

McMenamins Edgefield Karaoke Wedding
Christina and Bryson’s karaoke wedding reception was held Saturday, March 2, 2019 at McMenamins Edgefield in Troutdale, Oregon. They were actually married one week earlier in Sedona, Arizona, so this was a reception only for friends and family in the Portland area.
After most guests had gathered in Blackberry Hall, the newlyweds arrived around 6:30pm. I announced their grand entrance and they walked in to Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love.” Dinner was ready about 20 minutes later and during this time, I played a mix of classic jazz selections as requested by the bride and groom.
When inquiring with PRO DJs, Christina noted they were looking for a DJ who can also allow for our guests to sing karaoke after dinner. Following a short video of highlights from their Arizona wedding, Bryson was the first to go, singing The Cars “Just What I Needed.” From there, I encouraged others to sign-up to sing their favorites, but also opened the dance floor.
After a few more karaoke performances that included Queen’s “Crazy Little Thing Called Love,” it was mostly dancing for the next hour. The energy really picked up for “Uptown Funk,” “Shut Up and Dance” and “Can’t Stop the Feeling,” but it was LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem” that really moved the groom and fired up the crowd.
Karaoke returned for the last few songs including Bryson and his friends performing Weezer’s “Say It Ain’t So.”
Congratulations Christina and Bryson and thank you for choosing PRO DJs.
