Delightful Day For Boring Oregon Wedding
Jennifer and Michael’s Boring Oregon wedding took place on Saturday, August 6, 2016 on a delightful summer day.
The location was a private residence, but could have been mistaken for a commercial venue. It had everything many couples look for, including a large pond that bordered the dining deck and lots of space for the ceremony and dancing.
The ceremony was held in the somewhat secluded front yard that featured many trees and lush green grass.
Boring Oregon Wedding Ceremony Highlights:
- Wedding Party & Bride Entrance: Rachel Platten – Stand By You
- Bride/Groom Exit: Guns N’ Roses – Sweet Child O’Mine
Following the ceremony, I moved my sound system to the dance floor area while guests made their way around the other side of the house to the dining area. While they enjoyed drinks and refreshments, I played a mix of background music from a variety of artists that included bride and groom favorites: Train, OneRepublic, Harry Connick Jr, Frank Sinatra, and Michael Buble.
Boring Oregon Wedding Reception Highlights:
- Grand Entrance: Van Halen – Jump
- Cake Cutting: Thompson Square – Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not
- First Dance: Lee Brice – I Don’t Dance
- Bride/Father and Groom/Daughter Dance: Louis Armstrong – Georgia on My Mind
- Anniversary Dance: Ed Sheeran – Thinking Out Loud
With all the attractions of the surrounding property, the dance floor was a little slow to start, but not for too long… only five songs after I opened the floor to everyone, many guests couldn’t resist the energy of songs like ‘Billie Jean’, ‘Uptown Funk’, the bride’s request for ‘Raise Your Glass’ from Pink and more.
Congratulations Jennifer and Michael and thank you for choosing PRO DJs.
July Wedding At Camas Meadows Golf Club
After a couple of hot days in the mid-90’s, no one could have asked for better July wedding weather than a peak of 80 degrees on Saturday, July 30th, 2016. Sabelita and Jason’s big day at Camas Meadows Golf Club was both picture perfect and comfortable for the 100 guests attending.
The ceremony took place at 3pm in the gazebo on the golf course with the reception immediately following in the tent near the parking lot. As guests walked up the hill, I greeted them with a variety of uptempo background music that included such artists as Stevie Wonder, OneRepublic, U2 and more.
After taking photos, the newlyweds arrived for the reception about 20 minutes earlier than planned, but luckily I caught them before they walked in so I could cue up their entrance music. Following their introduction, they went right to their first dance, during which many guests from the bride’s family began pinning money on the couple. We had a money dance scheduled for later, but they just couldn’t wait 🙂
July Wedding At Camas Meadows Golf Club Reception Highlights:
- First Dance: Jason Dy – Be My Lady
- Bride/Father Dance: Tom Petty – Wildflowers
- Money Dance: Blake Shelton – God Gave Me You & Ed Sheeran – Thinking Out Loud
- Bouquet Toss: Beyonce – Single Ladies
- Garter Toss: Brett Eldredge – Drunk On Your Love
- Last Dance: Thomas Rhett – Die a Happy Man
A rousing round of the ‘Shoe Game’ followed the toast and cutting of the cake and Sabelita and Jason had fun trying to match each other’s answers. When the final question, “Who do you love most in the whole wide world?” was asked, Jason quickly raised Sabelita’s shoe, but the bride was slow to react before finally raising Jason’s shoe… the crowd loved it.
The dance floor opened just after 6pm and guests needed a few songs to get warmed up, but with the bride and her friends providing a spark, nearly everyone was participating and having a fun time dancing to ‘I Gotta Feeling,’ ‘Uptown Funk,’ the ‘Cupid Shuffle’ and more.
Congratulations Sabelita and Jason and thank you for choosing PRO DJs.
Riley Family Celebration At Corvallis Wedding
Corvallis Wedding DJ Rich Ellis had the opportunity to perform at Kate and Mark’s wedding and reception on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at the bride’s family home in Corvallis, Oregon.
After returning from his new home in Lincoln, Nebraska, former Oregon State University head football coach Mike Riley appreciated the mild weather for his daughter’s wedding.
The ceremony was held in an open grass area to the West of the main residence. I was able to provide music and sound for the microphones from my main set-up just over a row of bushes next to the house and the audio filled that area perfectly.
Corvallis Wedding Ceremony Highlights:
- Wedding Party Entrance: Joe Cocker – With A Little Help From My Friends
- Bride Entrance: Josh Garrels – Heaven’s Knife
- Communion: Acoustic Live Song by Family Friend
- Bride/Groom Exit: Stevie Wonder – Signed Sealed Delivered
The reception was primarily held in the backyard. However, I was setup closer to the front yard, which turned out to be the ideal spot for dancing later on. For background music, I setup an extra speaker in the backyard and per the request of Kate and Mark played a mix of Motown, Beatles, Beach Boys, and Blues, that included selections from the Temptations, Van Morrison and other similar artists.
Corvallis Wedding Reception Highlights:
- First Dance: Keb Mo – Life is Beautiful
- Bouquet Toss: Beyonce – Love on Top
- Garter Toss: DJ Khaled – All I Do Is Win
It was a beautiful, comfortable evening and the backyard looked like the place to be, but many guests were ready to expend some energy and took off dancing right away when the dance floor opened to everyone following the first dance.
As the sun set, the younger guests had a wild time movin’ and shakin’ to a setlist that featured mostly recent hits, such as ‘Uptown Funk,’ ‘Can’t Hold Us,’ ‘Shut Up and Dance’ and more.
As I was getting ready to leave at the end of the night, I appreciated the immediate feedback from Coach Riley, who told me “you’re a good DJ!” This was a fun group and I am glad everyone had a great time.
Congratulations Kate and Mark and thank you for choosing PRO DJs.

DJ Revs Up Bat Mitzvah At The Circus Project
Zoe and her friends had a great time at her Bat Mitzvah celebration held at The Circus Project in Northwest Portland on Saturday, July 23, 2016.
The Circus Project is Portland’s training center for contemporary circus arts and this was the first private party ever to take place there. With that in mind, there were several contortionists performing on tables throughout the venue, showcasing their skills of extreme physical flexibility.
While the parents engaged in conversation and dined downstairs, the kids had the entire upstairs to themselves and they had a great time playing games, such as the scavenger hunt, dancing to their favorite hit songs and doing the limbo.
Mazel Tov Zoe and thank you Susan and David for choosing PRO DJs.

Zoe’s Rocking Bat Mitzvah Party At Beth Israel
Zoe’s rocking Bat Mitzvah party took place at Congregation Beth Israel in Northwest Portland, Oregon on Saturday, May 28, 2016.
Zoe was loaded with energy and had no fear of public speaking as she asked for my microphone to announce dinner. She also worked the room by making the rounds to reveal the table raffle winners of some her favorite books. If she ever decides to be a DJ, I told her “she’s hired” 🙂
Following dinner, the guest of honor’s parents toasted their daughter. I then led the kids in a rousing two rounds of the scavenger hunt before opening the dance floor to everyone with ‘The Hora’ and chair-raising.
After spinning a few older songs for the adults, the dance floor became jam packed for ‘Uptown Funk,’ ‘Party Rock Anthem’ and more.
Zoe and her friends really love pop rock songs from the last decade such as tracks from Fall Out Boy, Green Day and Panic at the Disco. I was playing the music loud for the dance floor, but the kids were singing so loud, it wasn’t loud enough. They sounded great and had a lot of fun belting out their favorites.
As we neared the end, they brought nearly every balloon bouquet in the room to the dance floor that made this wild night look even more festive.
Mazel Tov Zoe and thank you mom Jaime for choosing PRO DJs.
