Flash Mob Fun At Marian’s Bat Mitzvah
Welcome back to a wonderful time of partying! This Bat Mitzvah was amazing with the celebration taking place at Congregation Neveh Shalom in Portland, Oregon on Saturday, March 10, 2012.
The party started at 7:00pm with a little soft jazz in the background, an active photobooth and Images By Floom as the photographer, so we had all the right players. Dinner started at 7:15 and as guests arrived, they grabbed a drink and then went right to loading their plates at the buffet. When the kids finished eating, they started dancing immediately and I took it up a notch with a swing dance contest. Next, we played the Coke and Pepsi game. That was followed by a few more choice music selections before taking a break for a slide show
Imediately afterwards, I went right to ‘The Hora’ and then… first time I have ever seen this in all my years of doing this… FLASH MOB! That’s right… a Flash MOB to ‘I Gotta Feeling’ from the Black Eyed Peas and it was awesome! Everybody was on the dance floor dancing… kids, parents, grandparents… everyone was in on it… crazy 🙂
Marian was so happy and amazed lol. Next we did the limbo and then ended the party with one of her favorites, ‘Paper Planes’ from M.I.A. I had so much fun. Stay tuned for the next party. I will see you at the end of March. -Steve

Portland Bar Mitzvah Party Excitement
Tonight was Eugene’s Bar Mitzvah at Ararat Restaurant in Southeast Portland. The party went from 6 to 10 and did we have fun!
First off Eugene and me talked before the party about video games we like… Skyrim was our favorite. We then talked about the party and he did not look nervous at all… actually he was ready to get down and party. But first, a little soft jazz background for arriving guests as requested by mom Irina.
The food smelled really good and when the kids were done eating, they were ready to have a good time and the party started off right with girls and guys flooding the dance floor! We amped it up with a swing dance competition. The winners won Starbucks gift cards and the kids were raising those prizes like they were going to take everybody to Starbucks… LOL.
‘The Hora’ was next and all guests were on the floor as both Eugene and his sister went up in the chair and the family was dancing it up. After announcing the limbo, all the kids starting practicing for it. But first, we had cake and sang then went into the limbo. Everybody tried it out… even the adults! But the kids have the experience and boys won over the girls in this one, even though the girls did give the guys a run for their money.
When the party ended, I asked Eugene how do you feel and he said ‘I am tired and my feet hurt’ but he said he loved it. That made me smile 🙂 See you all at the next party! -Steve

Bar Mitzvah Boy Rocks Beatles Themed Party
Hello friends and family welcome back to another exciting Mitzvah! Who you ask? The one and only Elliot Schloss. The party was held at Mittleman Jewish community Center in Portland, Oregon with over 200 guests in attendance enjoying a photo booth, the game “Rock Band,” a real band, and me, the DJ.
The theme of this party was The Beatles. Who does not know The Beatles? lol! Come on raise your hands. We had a video going with real Beatles footage and the room was lit up with different colors of Beatles songs over the years. In the back of the room, we had other games including Pop A Shot Basketball. The food table was a ‘Yellow Submarine.’ In the front of the room was a large stage for the band. I was set-up on the left side of the stage and the photo booth on the right.
The evening began with me spinning Beatles hits for cocktail and dinner music. After dinner, the parents offered a toast to family and friends and of course Elliot. We started dancing right after the toast and the first game was a swing dance that packed the floor… the kids really wanted to win those prizes and they were awesome! Once they were loosened up, we slowed it down with a ‘Snowball’ and Elliot got to dance with lots of girls… oh no!!!!!! 🙂
Next was ‘The Hora’ and everybody in the room watched as Elliot went up in the chair. His face was priceless. I followed up with a couple of fun dance songs and then introduced the band who played Beatles songs. Kids and parents danced with the band and later, Elliot got up there with the band to play a set of songs. I tell you, that boy can play the guitar!
It was amazing… so much fun in so little time. Everybody had a great time and I was happy to see Elliot let loose and feel all the love in the room. Until next time. Mazel Tov! -Steve
Triplet’s Bat Mitzvah A Rousing Success
Can you say 3? SAY IT LOUD! Farit, Liora, and Idit… that’s right three sisters and one great Bat Mitzvah Party on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Congregation Beth Israel.
Following the Havdallah Ceremony and slide show in the Pollin Chapel, guests entered the main ballroom and I started the background music (soft jazz). However, the kids were ready to go immediately, so we went straight to work 🙂
The kids bursting with excitement ran to the floor and started dancing while Tobin Floom Photography took pictures… the Photo Booth Paparazzi was also busy. We then played a game (Coke and Pepsi) before Ida Rae and Michael Cahana gave a toast. We then went into ‘The Hora’ and chair raising… always a great time.
The kids requested all the hit songs while dancing and having fun. There were also a lot of requests for slow songs since this will be the last party for this class. Farit, Liora, and Idit were just having a great time with everybody, family and friends.
I have never deejayed a triplet party before. I will always remember how much fun it was to celebrate with a wonderful class, great parents and most of all, seeing the three sisters smiling and enjoying the party. Mazel Tov and thank you. -Steve

Tearing Up The Dance Floor At Rachael’s Bat Mitzvah
Hello again. November is a busy month for Bar and Bat Mitzvahs. On Saturday, November 19, 2011 I performed at Rachael’s Bat Mitzvah held at Mittleman Jewish Community Center in Portland, Oregon. Redeye Photo Booth was there and they took many pics for the scrap book. The girl working the photo booth was sick so I made a lot of announcements to make sure we got the right shots.
Rachael was pretty quiet in the beginning, but once her friends arrived, got real excited knowing her party was under way. She wanted games, dancing and lots of fun. As usual, the kids got done with dinner real quick so I started them dancing only 20 minutes after dinner was served 🙂
A little later there was a toast from Rachael’s parents Tom and Julie and slide show. Right after that we went into ‘The Hora’ to get everybody started. Seeing the entire family going up in the chair always makes me smile. There were a lot of girls at Rachael’s party and only a few boys, so we played a lot of games and I kept everybody busy with dancing and having fun.
As the party was coming to an end, I asked Rachael how do u want to end this, slow or fast? She said ‘let me ask my friends.’ She then came back to ask me ‘what do I think?’ I said since we do not have a lot of guys here, lets go out with a huge bang. She agreed and picked ‘Sandstorm’ from Darude… this song is fast and loaded with energy and the girls kept pace. They left with sore feet from all the dancing, but with big smiles. It was another great party and a wonderful family.
Mazel Tov Rachael and thanks Tom & Julie for choosing PRO DJs. See you all next time. -Steve
