Employee Dinner Dance With Portland Party DJ
35 years working for one company is a mighty long time and to mark that milestone, Gretchen was asked what she wanted to do to celebrate?
She chose a dinner/dance with a Portland party DJ, her co-workers and friends. The company she works for obliged with a formal gathering at The Nines in Portland, Oregon on Friday, January 25, 2013.
With about 60 guests in attendance, the smaller ballroom provided an intimate setting and everyone enjoyed appetizers and drinks while I played a mix of background music that included Coldplay, Al Green, U2 and other popular artists.
During dinner, I played a softer set that featured songs from Jack Johnson, Nora Jones, Otis Redding and more. Afterwards, several co-workers lined up to toast the guest of honor.
A slide show followed and it featured many pictures and music from 1978, the year Gretchen began working for the company. I played on that theme, opening the dancing portion of the evening with ‘Stayin’ Alive’ from the Bee Gees.
It was noted that Gretchen brings a lot of energy to work everyday, so I wasn’t surprised to see her lead the way to the dance floor with most everyone soon joining her and her husband.
For this Portland party DJ, it was a great run of classic hits and disco that kept this party movin’ and groovin, including big hits ‘Billie Jean’, ‘We Are Family’, ‘Play That Funky Music’, ‘Love Shack’ and more.

Portland Bar Mitzvah DJ Steve Brings The Fun
Portland Bar Mitzvah DJ Steve Marker was chosen to perform at Manny’s Bar Mitzvah celebration on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Southwest Community Center in Portland, Oregon.
The family reserved half the gym for games with the kids and eventually dancing for everyone. The parents gathered for cocktails and dinner in the entry lobby before joining the fun on the dance floor.
As has become customary, Portland Bar Mitzvah DJ Steve opened the dance floor with ‘The Hora’ and chair raising. The crowd was fired up as expected, but with a little twist here… Manny decided he wanted to follow that up with a Snowball slow dance 🙂
From there, it was a mix of today’s hit music along with some favorites from the past, including requests for Black Eyed Peas ‘I Gotta Feeling’, ABBA ‘Dancing Queen’ and Michael Jackson’s ‘Billie Jean.’

Bat Mitzvah DJ Steve At Tualatin Country Club
January is a popular month for bar and bat mitzvahs in the Portland area. Equally as popular for these events is PRO DJs Steve Marker, who performed his first event of 2013 on Saturday, January 12th at Eliana’s Bat Mitzvah held at Tualatin Country Club in Tualatin, Oregon.
As the adults engaged in conversation during the cocktail hour, Steve kept the kids occupied with many games, including Eliana’s favorite, the Scavenger Hunt. Games and contests are always a hit with the next generation and a ton of prize giveaways made it extra fun.
After a welcome toast by Eliana’s parents, Jason & Allison and a buffet dinner, Bat Mitzvah DJ Steve opened the dance floor with ‘The Hora’ and chair raising that never fails to get a party to lively start. GUests enjoyed dancing the night away to the latest hit music, along with a few party classics.
Apocalyptic Mt Hood Wedding A Real Blast
The final PRO DJs Portland wedding of 2012 took place on what was suppose to be the last day of civilization. We have been hearing about it for years, the Mayan calendar predicted the world would end on December 21, 2012. For Deanna and Cory, this seemed like the perfect day to tie the knot and to take it one step further, why not get married halfway up the Oregon mountain most likely to erupt 🙂
For this Mt Hood wedding, they chose to rent out four cabins at the Cooper Spur Mountain Resort and the ceremony took place outside just after twilight with a light snow falling. With about 40 guests in attendance, friends and family formed a circle around the bride and groom and an Indian medicine woman who performed the ceremony, as the music of the Native Flute Ensemble ‘Deer Spirits Welcome the Dawn’ played in the background.
After they were official, Cory had requested Billy Idol’s ‘White Wedding’ followed by ‘It’s the End of the World As We Know It’ from R.E.M. and the Dave Matthews Band’s ‘End of the World’ and the celebration was officially under way.
Next, everyone took a short walk to the main lodge for a champagne toast before returning to the cabins for the reception. Each cabin hosted a different part of the reception, with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres in one cabin, dinner in another, dessert in a third cabin and finally karaoke and dancing with me in the main cabin. This worked out perfectly and everyone had a great time going door-to-door for each event.
The karaoke portion of the evening got off to a rockin’ start with Deanna and several friends singing Pat Benatar’s ‘Hit Me With Your Best Shot’ followed by Cory with Matchbox 20’s ‘3 AM’. After that, the list of singers was long and diverse, they covered everthing from C.C.R. to Taylor Swift and about 15 women singing and dancing to Flo Rida’s ‘Low’ really brought the house down in Cabin #4.
After several hours of rockin’ the mic, the outdoor hot tubs beckoned and on a beautiful night, this Mt Hood wedding came to a perfect end. Best wishes Deanna and Cory. Your guests won’t soon forget this one.
