McMenamins Sand Trap Wedding Gearhart Oregon
Rachel and Pete’s McMenamins Sand Trap wedding was held on Saturday, October 22, 2022 in Gearhart on the Oregon Coast.
The couple decided to have a private ceremony on the beach so I was just there for the reception in the downstairs ballroom located just off the golf course.
Background music was a variety of familiar selections including Country favorites as requested by the bride and groom.

The dance floor opened to everyone around 7:45pm and guests didn’t waste any time getting down to classic hits like “Stayin’ Alive” and “Shout” plus the newlyweds favorites from Michael Jackson, AC/DC and more.
The lights were on the entire evening, but that was no deterrent for this group.

Abernethy Center Abigail’s Garden Wedding
Sabrina and Taylor’s Abernethy Center Abigail’s Garden wedding took place in Oregon City on Sunday, September 25, 2022 on a beautiful Northwest early fall day for the ceremony held outside at the Gazebo.

Following the ceremony, guests moved up the hill directly behind the ceremony to the tented reception area. During the cocktail hour and dinner, I played a mix of background music from a variety of artists that included Adele, Stevie Wonder and Jason Mraz.

It was a pleasant evening to walk the grounds for the almost 70 guests in attendance, plus a photo booth out of sight of the tent area. The dance floor had its moments too as I played favorites “Stayin’ Alive”, “Low”, “Cupid Shuffle” and more.

Griffin House Wedding Hood River Oregon
Gemma and Jess’ wedding and reception was held at Griffin House in Hood River, Oregon on Friday, September 2, 2022.
This was my first time as DJ at this venue, a beautiful spot overlooking the majestic Columbia River Gorge with the ceremony lawn providing the best view to exchange vows.

With the wedding, cocktail hour and dinner/dancing in three separate areas, three sound systems were required to make everything go as smoothly as possible. This included a lapel microphone for the ceremony officiant and handheld cordless microphones for the vows and toasts.
Guests gathered on the Welcome Terrace for cocktails and a welcome toast from the newlyweds before moving to the lawn + tent for dinner and dancing.
Background music was provided to me as Spotify playlists by Gemma and Jess and included a wide variety of selections from Death Cab for Cutie, Beyonce, AC/DC and more.

This was a fun group and the celebration really took off after the newlyweds returned from their sunset photos and glow sticks were handed out.
The dance floor was packed for nearly two hours with an amazing energy. I played everything from “One More Time” and “Love Shack” to requests for Madonna, Lady Gaga, “Disco Inferno” and more.
Early on, a beer shotgun competition with Gemma and her family also broke out in the grass behind where I was setup 🙂

August Hood River Oregon Wedding Reception
Kelsey and Brandon’s Hood River Oregon wedding reception was held on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at the Rockford Grange, located just down the street from the couple’s home where they exchanged vows and afterwards most guests could just make the short walk to the reception.

Guests appeared to enjoy the variety of music played during dinner and when the dance floor opened around 6:30pm were partial to slow songs mostly until a little later when they had a great time dancing to “Brown Eyed Girl”, “Can’t Stop The Feeling”, “Fancy Like” and more.

Foundry at Oswego Pointe Wedding Lake Oswego
It was a perfect late summer day for Jessica and Oscar’s Foundry at Oswego Pointe wedding on Friday, August 26, 2022 in Lake Oswego, Oregon. Under partly cloudy skies and a comfortable high of 77 degrees, the ceremony was held outside on the Promenade overlooking the Willamette River.

For the reception, guests gathered for cocktails and dinner inside the Great Hall and the Riverside Deck. The Great Hall has a built-in sound system with speakers directly over the dance floor in the center. I did connect my sound system to the house system, but mostly to provide ideal sound everywhere for background music, toast and other events since I was setup on the far side of the room. My speakers combined with the house speakers provided a nice balance throughout the room.

Between the toast and cake cutting, the newlyweds played the shoe game. The best responses are to questions where couples disagree or they are not sure how to answer. There was a lot of double shoe raising to questions like “Who has the wackiest family” and “Who made the first move?”
It was around 7:30pm when the dancing began, so there was some ebb and flow the first 30 minutes or so, but eventually the dance floor began to define a little more and filled for the fun fast tunes that included classic hits and country, along with more recent songs plus the family’s requests for Elvis Crespo’s “Suavemente”, Selena and more.
