Aviation History Provides Backdrop At Fort Vancouver Wedding
With classic planes from as far back as the early 1900’s on display, Casey and Hazen were married in the Historical Hanger at Pearson Air Museum in Vancouver, Washington on Sunday, November 18, 2012.
Ceremony Highlights:
- Parents/Family Entrance: George Winston – Joy
- Bridal Party Entrance: Phillip Phillips – Home
- Flower Girl/Ring Bearer Entrance: Masters Theme
- Bride Entrance: Olympic Fanfare Theme Song
- Bride/Groom Exit: Colbie Caillat – Brighter Than The Sun
The reception for this Fort Vancouver wedding was held in the Main Hanger of the museum. Guests mingled to a mix of background music that featured familiar classics along with requests of some of the bride and groom’s favorite contemporary Christian songs.
Reception Highlights:
- Grand Entrance: One Republic – Good Life
- Cake Cutting: Kanye West – Love Lockdown (Instrumental)
- First Dance: Tim McGraw f/Faith Hill – It’s Your Love
- Bride and Father Dance: Ray Allaire – A Song For My Daughter (On Her Wedding Day)
- Groom and Mother Dance: André Rieu – Annie’s Song
A heavy dose of classic hits from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s fit the bill for this Sunday afternoon Fort Vancouver wedding celebration. Beatles, B-52’s, Bob Seger and Billy Idol went over especially well and kept the dance floor hoppin’. ‘Footloose’ was also a popular choice and Casey led a hoedown to ‘Cotton Eye Joe’ 🙂

“Rich, We wanted to express how grateful we were that you partook in our wedding. It was obviously a fun day, for us, and the guests. The music selection, timing, and delivery primarily rested on your shoulders, and it all went so smoothly. Thank you Rich. We’ll be recommending you to anyone who’s in need of a DJ. Thank you again.” -Hazen and Casey Hyland

Portland Wedding DJ Returns to Oswego Pointe
The last time I performed at this venue, the Portland-area was in the middle of a long streak of dry, sunny weather, allowing the ceremony to be held outside (Julie & Brian 9/1/12). The October rain has arrived though, forcing everyone inside and the large ballroom at The Foundry at Oswego Pointe in Lake Oswego, Oregon became an intimate scene for Lisa and Guy’s wedding and the reception that followed on Friday, October 19, 2012.
Background music for the reception was a mix of big band and crooner hits from the 40’s and 50’s, such as Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald and Nat King Cole. Following dinner was the toast and then Lisa surprised Guy by singing the Motown classic ‘My Guy’ (see photo below).
Reception Highlights:
- Grand Entrance: Frank Sinatra – Fly Me To The Moon
- Cake Cutting: Adam Sandler – Grow Old With You
- Bride’s Grandmother and Groom Dance: Louis Armstrong – What A Wonderful World
- First Dance: Etta James – At Last
- Groom and Mother Dance: (Live Performance) Bride’s Daughter – Dancing In The Moonlight
- Last Song: Rascal Flatts – Bless the Broken Road
Over 200 guests packed the room and I was told this was the largest event at The Foundary this year. I say, the more the merrier means less inhibition and we had a good run on the dance floor with smash hits from the Bee Gees, Maroon 5, Beyonce and more.
Congratulations Lisa and Guy and thank you for choosing PRO DJs.

“Rich was amazing. He was prompt, kind, sincere, and honest. He made several very last minute changes for us. Including, making the first dance with my new husband and my 89 year old grandmother. It was very touching. Everyone should get to have the experience with a DJ the way we did.” -Lisa and Guy Belfiore

Fall Wedding At Cornelius Pass Roadhouse
Our amazing run of summer weather continues into October… only one day of measurable rain in the last 78 is quite a streak for the Pacific Northwest. At 5:35pm on Friday, October 5, 2012, it was an ideal 72 degrees under sunny skies for the start of Kelly and Luke’s wedding held at McMenamins Cornelius Pass Roadhouse in Hillsboro, Oregon
Ceremony Highlights:
- Bridal Party Entrance: Ben Harper – Not Fire Not Ice
- Bride Entrance: Ben Harper – Happy Everafter In Your Eyes
- Bride/Groom Exit: Black Eyed Peas – I Gotta Feeling
The reception was in the Octagon Barn and guests mingled to a mix of adult alternative hits from Coldplay, Jack Johnson and others, including one of the bride’s favorites, Mumford & Sons.
Reception Highlights:
- First Dance: Avett Brothers – Swept Away
- Bride and Father Dance: Jack Johnson – Better Together
- Groom and Mother Dance: Same
- Bouquet Toss: Pat Benatar – Hit Me With Your Best Shot
- Garter Toss: Kelis – Milkshake
- Last Song: Jason Mraz – I Won’t Give Up
There were quite a few people dancing to the background music during the cocktail hour, so I had a good feeling about this group. The dance floor filled quickly and Kelly and Luke’s friends and family had a great time shakin’ and groovin’ to the latest Top 40 hits, along with a few older favorites.
It was good to see two couples who had referred me to Kelly and Luke. I had the pleasure of performing at Adrienne and Seth’s wedding in July, 2009 at McMenamins Grand Lodge in Forest Grove and Ashley and Brady in March, 2007 at Surfsand Resort in Cannon Beach.

High Energy Guests Crank Up The Fun At Bridgeport Brewpub Wedding Reception
The first day of Fall offered the perfect summer weather for Jessi and Dan’s wedding held in the Shakespeare Garden at Washington Park in Portland, Oregon on Saturday, September 22, 2012.
The reception followed at Bridgeport Brewpub in the Pearl District in Northwest Portland, where I had my sound system set-up and playing a variety of popular background music as guests arrived, including a few Country selections requested by the bride.
Wedding Reception Highlights:
- Grand Entrance: David Guetta f/Usher – Without You
- Cake Cutting: Cake – Short Skirt, Long Jacket
- First Dance: Ray LaMontagne – You Are The Best Thing
- Parent’s Dance: Bruno Mars – Count On Me
- Last Dance Song: Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes – I’ve Had the Time Of My Life
I have witnessed many energetic starts to the dance floor at past events, but this one took the cake. It seemed like everyone just exploded out of their seats for that first uptempo song and they never let up. The fun and excitement increased with every cut… hot tracks like ‘Moves Like Jagger’, ‘Party Rock Anthem’, ‘Stayin’ Alive’ and a last minute request from Jessi for the new smash hit ‘Gangnam Style’ were well received.
No more than 75 guests were in attendance, but they really rocked it and made a great party for Jessi and Dan. Congratulations!
