Annual Celebration For Cadets At JROTC Banquet

After many, many years at the Monarch Hotel in Clackamas, the Oregon City High School Army JROTC program awards banquet and dance was moved to the Abernethy Center in Oregon City, Oregon. This formal event took place on Saturday, February 18, 2012 and featured dinner and a guest speaker.

As has been customary, the group crowned a G.I. Joe and G.I. Jane for 2012 and they led the first dance of the night to Taylor Swift’s ‘Back to December’ before others joined in. Always courteous and respectful, this group of students is still ready to get down on the dance floor and they expended a lot of energy to a mix of current hits, along with a few classic tracks.

This event is the longest running on the PRO DJs calendar… we have performed this annually going back to 1998. Everyone had a great time and we appreciate the opportunity to perform again at this special banquet. Thank you Major Thomas and Cadet Britney Harter. -Rich

Clackamas High School Winter Formal Dance

‘Starry Night’ was the theme for Clackamas High School Students as they danced the night away in the Kridel Grand Ballroom located on the third floor of the Portland Art Museum on Saturday, January 28, 2012.

Everyone got their groove on to the latest hit music, including tracks from LMFAO, Pitbull and Rihanna. Especially popular was ‘Dance’ from Big Sean and ‘I Like It Like That’ from Hot Chelle Rae.

Thank you to advisor Laura Pridmore-Brown and student Madison O. for choosing PRO DJs. Madison let me know after the dance they would like to bring us back for Prom in May. We look forward to it! -Rich

Union High Hollywood Homecoming School Dance

It was a Movie Theme at Union H.S. for the Homecoming Dance on Saturday, October 8, 2011, complete with movie trivia and a scavenger hunt every 30 minutes or so where students could win a DVD movie.

PRO DJs has performed at nearly every dance for the Titans the last few years and it was another huge turnout for this one. In fact, the school has added so many students, it appears we may have outgrown the commons/cafeteria and most dances will now be held in the gym.

The students, faculty and parents did a great job decorating and brought the gym to life with movie memorabilia that included Spiderman hanging in a web directly above me 🙂

Of course, the students love the hot hits and I played all their current favorites, including ‘Give Me Everything (Tonight)’ from Pitbull, Dev ‘In The Dark’, ‘Moves Like Jagger’ from Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera and the smash of the night LMFAO’s ‘Party Rock Anthem’. This group also continues to love dancing the ‘Cha Cha Slide.’ It was a great party.

Thank you Colleen for again choosing PRO DJs! -Rich

Seaside High School Prom

I drove into Astoria from Portland an extra hour early. Fortunately, I didn’t need to use that cushion time I usually provide myself with in case of any traffic issues. On time, every time is how I like to get the party started. The Seaside High School Prom was ready for take off. Since I was set up a whole hour early, I took requests and played some music for the parents and staff. A little funk and motown got the adults into the party mood. But this night was for the students and guests of Seaside High. So when the time got a little closer for their night, we put the 80’s away and made room for the new generation and their music.

Adele, Black Eyed Peas and Bruno Mars is what pumped though the ballroom as the Juniors and Seniors walked into the array of flashing lights. The first students wasted no time moving their bodies on the dance floor. I knew it was going to be a fun night. The shape of the venue made the acoustics sound so sweet. About 150-200 students filled the ballroom and got lost in the music. Jessie J, B.O.B, Tinie Timpah, Lupe Fiasco…so much good music out right now. For 3 hours they let the responsibilities of student life go for this coming-of-age event. After an enitre Senior class picture and crowning of the Prom King and Queen, we finished off the night with even more music from Usher, Katy Perry and Ke$ha. And then it was the last song. Chris Brown’s ‘With You’ to top off the night.

It was a fun night for everyone. Thank you Seaside High School for having us! -Rhett

“We were really happy with the way the music turned out for our dance. The DJ was able to keep the students and chaperones entertained and we were so impressed with the professionalism. We will definitely recommend Pro DJs to our future dance coordinators.” -Annice McEwan/Prom Committee

Hudson’s Bay High School Prom

“Black and Yellow!”…those are Hudson’s Bay High School colors (at least that’s what I was told) so we had to play that song by Wiz Khalifa during the 2011 Prom at the Portland Art Museum. It was the perfect venue for a formal occasion. After loading in and setting up, it was showtime. I could see the students trickling in. We got the mood started with some medium-tempo music. New, popular hits from artists like Bruno Mars, Lupe Fiasco and Pink. As more of the very well-dressed young men and women started to enter the sunken ballroom, the tempo started to get faster. It was starting to become a full blown party and we were about to blow the roof off.

The great thing about DJing is the energy that builds. It comes from the music. It comes from the crowd. I could feel the energy building and I reflect that with the music. It becomes a 3 hour journey of popular music of today and some from the past to remember. Hudson’s Bay had a lot great energy and danced the entire prom. We mostly played current music from today’s hot artist like Nicki Minaj, Black Eyed Peas, One Republic, Cee-Lo Green and Ms. Katy Perry. We threw in a few old songs and some slow ones during the night too. The entire night was a blast. I played as many requests as I could, but if I couldn’t play it, the song may have been a little too hot for a school dance. They understand ?. Thanks Hudson’s Bay for having us be a part of a great evening to remember. Congratulations to the graduating Seniors!!
